December 2025 Update: I continue to enjoy the delicious foods and cultural knowledge that Joy and Dennis serve with every meal. The food, service and atmosphere remains wonderful, and I strongly encourage you to try all the entrees and the desserts! * Original review: Everything was incredible. I learned that bitter melon is what Guyanese call "karela" so it was a pleasant surprise to recognize the taste in a different cuisine than I'm accustomed to. We sampled several dishes, all of which were delicious! I recommend the following: Lumpiang Shanghai ("Filipino egg rolls"), Lechon Kawali (deep fried marinated pork belly), Ginisang Ampalaya (Bittermelon sauteed with garlic, onion, tomatoes, egg), Bistek Tagalog (thinly sliced beef, braised in soy sauce and calamansi, garnished with onion rings), Chicken Afritada (Tomato based chicken stew with potatoes, carrots, and bell peppers), and Sisig Pampanga (Minced grilled pork belly seasoned with calamansi and onions). The hospitality at Kusinera is exemplary: it's one thing to go somewhere and have a meal. This was an entirely different experience, we were invited to a feast of amazing cultural dishes, and they shared the heritage of the dishes. Joy and Dennis are gracious hosts, and I'm excited to return for the next meal!

Delicious and fresh Filipino food for a homesick Fil-Am. Scratch cooking, impeccably clean, and great service. If you’re dining in they’ll serve you at your table on proper dining ware. The owners are incredibly kind and hard working – it’s so wonderful to see proper Filipino cooking served with a lot of love and hustle where other places are slinging food from a Mama Sita’s seasoning packet, in Styrofoam. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Stumbled upon this place after going to Eisenhower park. Really tasty home style cooked dishes. We tried most of the hot plate offerings and the lechon and everything was delicious. Owners are super friendly and very hospitable. Even had a little coloring package for kids. Will definitely be coming back to try the a la carte menu.

The lumpia Shanghai is of high quality. All the dishes are delicious. The soup tastes very good. The restaurant is very clean and very modern. The restaurant looks beautiful. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I recommend this place. Good Filipino food. Kusinera's traditional Filipino cuisine is a very good restaurant. The desserts are delicious. There is parking. Leche flan and their taho cheesecake desserts were my favorite. The customer service is awesome. They gave my son a delicious ube Cookie and he loved it. Soon they will offer Filipino BBQ

As close to a mom and pop you can get. Owner husband and wife do everything. Menu changes everyday they said. Any two meats with a side of coconut rice $10 . Three of us tried 6 different dishes . All were so homemade tasting. Ive never had filipino food so have nothing to compare it to . Cant wait to go back and try other dishes.

So glad I came here with my Filipino friend. I asked him to recommend some of the dishes and he couldn't . Regardless, the food was very good and the service was excellent as well. Ended up trying 4 dishes with sides of rice and some type of fried spring roll. For the life of me I can't remember what I tried, but I do remember EVERYTHING was absolutely delicious. My favorite was the dish with white cream sauce followed by the BBQ chicken. The value honestly can't be beat. Where are you going to get 2 meats with rice for $10 AND get great hospitality included for that price.

It was my first visit to this restaurant with my Filipino mother. We ate there, and ordered a lot of food to go to try out this week. We love Filipino restaurants with authentic cuisine in Woodside, but wanted to try this place since there are few places out in Long Island. The sinigang na bangus was very good. It did taste like home-cooking. I also ordered a combo with pork kare kare and barbecue chicken, which was a great value and delicious as well. The service was excellent, so we will be back for sure and bring more family.
